Diversity is Lit Book Club
What is Diversity is Lit?
Diversity is Lit is a book club that was created to support BIPOC authors and expand our bookshelves. In our Goodreads group, we vote in a poll of 5 books by BIPOC authors, then read the highest-voted book the following month. At the end of the month, we have a fun and thoughtful discussion with friends in a livestream on my YouTube channel (@writehollydavis).
Why did I create it?
In light of the Black Lives Matter movement that surged in 2020, I felt compelled to find a way to make lasting changes for Black communities by supporting Black authors. As a biracial writer, I was disappointed in the number of books by BIPOC authors I’d read. To create permanent change, I created this book club so that we could all enrich our reading lists and support marginalized voices.
How can you join?
You can vote for the book of the month, recommend books to read, and more on our Goodreads group page, the main hub of this book club. And follow us on Instagram, @DiversityIsLit.
