About Me

Hi, I’m Holly! I’m a young adult and middle-grade fantasy author working as an acute care physical therapist and care coordinator in the Chicago suburbs. I’m biracial (half-white, half-black), an identical twin, a self-proclaimed ‘cool’ nerd, and a fur mom to a pittie and two kitties. When I’m not reading or writing, I love to binge Netflix shows and play mobile games.

I started writing at a very young age, though I’d often draw the book cover and only write a couple of chapters! In high school, I wrote fanfiction for the video game, Kingdom Hearts. Eventually, I wanted to write a story of a world and characters all my own! I started a YA fantasy in 2007 but my time and writing fell to the wayside once I started physical therapy school in 2009. I discovered NaNoWriMo in 2015 and picked my novel back up, determined to finish the story I’d started so long ago. I completed the first draft in December 2015 which set me on the path toward trying to get published…and I’ve never looked back since!

My YA fantasy debut, A Diamond Bright and Broken, was published with Inimitable Books in November 2024, and the sequel releases April 13, 2027. I’m grateful to share my stories with the world!

Throughout the years, I’ve immersed myself in the writing community by sharing my journey, giving advice, and hosting live writing sprints on my AuthorTube channel. I love interacting with both readers and writers alike. Subscribe to my newsletter to stay up-to-date on book news and get peeks into my real life.

I’m also the host of the Diversity is Lit Book Club and a judge for the Page Turner Awards Young Writer Award, a writing contest for writers aged between 18 and 25.
